Salt Dough SnowmanBefore you begin gather all the materials and prepare your work surface.

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Toothpicks
  • Washable paint or marker
  • Scraps of fabric or craft paper
  • Salt dough, (here is the recipe)
    • 1 cup of flour
    • 1/2 cup of water (may add more)
    • 1 cup of fine salt
    • Combine the salt and the flour and make a well in the mixture. Add the water into the well. Knead until smooth and shape into a ball. If you have left over dough you can store it in an airtight container.

 

4 Easy steps to a marvelous Salt Dough Snowman

  1. Roll the dough into three balls, this will be the body of the snowman
  2. Use the toothpicks for the snowman’s arms.
  3. Paint or use the markers to make features on the snowman.
  4. Use the scraps of fabric or craft paper to accessorize the snowman ?with a hat and scarf

Making Julia the Squirrel:

  1. Print out the activity sheet provided. It depicts arms, feet, tail and a head.
  2. Decorate these squirrel body parts with the crayons
  3. Cut out the shapes
  4. Cut the paper towel roll inner tube in half
  5. Decorate the paper towel roll inner tube, this is the body of the squirrel
  6. Stick the body parts onto the paper towel roll inner tube.

Fall leafBefore you begin gather all the materials and prepare your work surface.

Things You'll Need:

  • Leaves
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Glitter (optional)

8 Easy steps to a fantastic bird feeder

  1. Collect leaves on a nature walk or in your garden.
  2. Cut the contact paper into two equal pieces about a foot in length.
  3. Carefully peel the backing paper off one piece of contact paper and lay it on the table sticky side up.
  4. Take the leaves you found on your walk and lay them in a design on the sticky side of the contact paper.
  5. Sprinkle a little glitter on the leaves if desired
  6. Stick the second piece of contact paper over the first sealing the leaves in the contact paper
  7. Press down to smooth the place mat.
  8. Trim the edges with a scissors, or fancy craft scissors for a fun effect.

You will have loads of fun finding the perfect leaves and creating beautiful place mats with your child and they make great holiday gifts as well. Just remember to have fun and make an effort to do something special with your child every day.

Things You'll Need:

  • Lots of newspaper or an easy to clean table cloth
  • Pine cones
  • Vegetable shortening (Crisco)
  • Large shallow dish
  • String
  • Birdseed

4 Easy steps to a fantastic bird feeder

  1. Cover a table with newspaper or an easy to clean table cloth.
  2. Tie the hanging string onto the pine cone. This will be how the feeder hangs.
  3. Coat the pine cone in vegetable shortening. This is the ‘glue’.
  4. Pour birdseed into a shallow dish and roll the pine cone in the birdseed until it is completely covered

Now you have a wonderful bird feeder to hang in your garden and it wont be long till the birds show up for a delicious snack.
